  • These are pictures of our guest full bath BEFORE we gutted it, installed a shower, and remodeled it. This project is how we got to know Tom Grahek, who eventually became the general contractor for our overall remodel.

  • As you can see, the former resident was elderly and infirm. We had to get rid of the handicap aids and there was not shower, so we had to have some substantial plumbing done.

  • We wanted to keep something from the old bathroom, so the toilet made it, as did the bathtub (but not the fixtures in the tub).

  • Voila! Our new guest bath. We needed to get this done so that Bob and Lynn Jones, who were coming to stay with us, would have a good visit.

  • This is the original guest bedroom. As in every other room in the house, we have our obligatory bookshelves (now gone).

  • After we packed up the master bedroom (with stuff still in the middle of the floor), this is what our bedroom looked like. Not quite what we wanted. Check out the changes in the pictures to follow.

  • Master bath: what a disaster. Sunken tub that was as comfortable as sitting on a cactus (well, not quite that bad), and a shower that was flaking and molding. Yuck!

  • The door to the master bedroom is on the left; the toilet/shower is on the right. I'm standing new to the sunken tub, with the sinks to my left.

  • The powder room off the main hall - before we trashed it. White tile, white cabinets, white sink, white toilet, white and pink wallpaper - not what we wanted. Wait until you see the result of our re-do.

  • This is a view from the bedrooms looking toward the kitchen. Shiny brass fixtures, white tile, white walls, white cabinets. The hallway doesn't line up with the hallway into the kitchen, either. We fixed all of that.

  • There was this dry bar, with mirror, in the hallway. It's now a bookcase. We limited the depth of this space, used it in the master bedroom, and had a natural wood bookcase built into this nook.
